Bull Bars for Utes with Sensors and Cameras
Modern utes are full of front sensors. Here is what to check so the bar protects the vehicle without upsetting its safety systems.

A late-model ute can carry front parking sensors, a front camera, a radar unit for adaptive cruise and emergency braking, and airbag sensors that read how the front of the vehicle deforms in a crash. A bull bar sits right in front of all of them. Getting it right is about choosing a bar made for your exact model and fitting it properly.
Choose a bar listed for your model
Bars are designed for a specific model and build range, including where its sensors and camera sit. That is why Opposite Lock lists each bar by part number, for example the Next Gen Ranger bar (OL125FR22) or the 2024 D-Max bar (OL125ID24V1). A bar for a different year can look the same and still not suit your sensor layout.
What we check before ordering
- Your build date and grade, because sensor packages change between grades.
- Whether the vehicle has front parking sensors, a front camera or a radar unit, and where they sit.
- That the bar is listed as compatible with the vehicle's airbag system.
- The winch, lights and aerial you want, so their mounts do not block a sensor.
What happens during fitting
The factory bumper comes off and the bar mounts to the chassis. Sensors and cameras are moved into the positions the bar is designed for. Before the vehicle leaves, we test every sensor and the camera and check headlight aim. Some vehicles need their driver-assist systems checked after front-end work; we tell you at quote time if yours does.
Post bar or loop bar?
A post bar keeps the front open for airflow and sensors and suits most Gold Coast driving. A loop bar adds tubing over the headlights for country and night driving. See the bull bar range or browse part numbers by vehicle.

Questions
Will a bull bar stop my parking sensors working?
Not when the bar is made for your model and the sensors are moved into the positions it is designed for. We test them all before handback.
Is a bull bar airbag compatible?
Bars from established brands are designed and tested for the vehicles they are listed for. We confirm the listing covers your model before ordering.
Do I need a different bar for a different grade of the same ute?
Sometimes. Sensor packages change between grades and years, which is why we check your build date and grade first.
